Riverside Foundation in Lincolnshire has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

Occurring this year on Nov. 29, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States — and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday — to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

Riverside Foundation is a nonprofit social service agency that is celebrating 40 years of service to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It provides a loving and comfortable homelike setting at its main residential campus in Lincolnshire and its group homes in Grayslake and Gurnee. The foundation’s clients are engaged in purposeful and meaningful work and activities at its work and activity center in Vernon Hills.

The Coleman Foundation, an independent grant making foundation that supports institutions providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will support Riverside by offering a dollar-for- dollar match of donations received online on #GivingTuesday from anyone who did not donate in 2015.

For those who donated in 2015, they offered a dollar-for-dollar match of donations made online on #GivingTuesday for any incremental increase above the donor’s largest single gift in 2015. The Coleman Foundation matching grant is offered up to a maximum of $10, 000.

Riverside’s goal is to raise $30,000. The funds raised will be used to subsidize delicious and nutritious meals for Riverside residents and to enhance the meals for residents who remain at Riverside during holiday times.
