Each year, The Community Church of Rolling Meadows has attempted to remedy the holiday “hustle and bustle” — at least for one evening — by going back in time to the good, old days.
A themed dinner is provided, followed by a radio play. This year’s presentation, “Christmas TIME’S A Comin,’” will be Saturday, Dec. 3. Dinner is at 6 p.m.; the radio play begins at 7:30 p.m.
The audience will be taken back to Dec. 24, 1941, in a small country church in Brown County, Indiana. The very unconventional, and, at times irreverent, gospel group the Taylor family has been invited to lead the traditional Christmas Eve worship service. It turns out to be an evening of surprises. A country-style Christmas dinner will be served.
Previous productions have been “It’s A Wonderful Life,” “A Christmas Carol,” “Life With Father,” “Once Upon A Midnight Clear” and, last year, “Rolling Meadows’ First Christmas.”
Tickets for the dinner theater are $28 each. Because there is limited seating for the dinner, tickets must be purchased in advance at the church, 2720 Kirchoff Road; by calling (847) 255-5510; or online at www.communitychurchrm.com.
Tickets for the play only are $15 and can also be purchased at the door.
