IOWA CITY, Iowa — Corey Clement ran for 134 yards and a touchdown and Wisconsin snapped a two-game skid with a 17-9 win over Iowa on Saturday.
Alex Hornibrook threw for 197 yards to help the Badgers (5-2, 2-2 Big Ten) win for the fourth straight time in Iowa City.
Backup Bart Houston threw a touchdown pass, and Clement’s 1-yard run put the Badgers ahead 14-6 midway through the third quarter.
The Badgers allowed just 236 yards on 60 plays and held the Hawkeyes (5-3, 3-2) without a touchdown for the first time all season.
Nebraska 27, Purdue 14:
LINCOLN, Neb. — Tommy Armstrong Jr. accounted for 303 yards of offense and 2 touchdowns, and Nebraska (7-0, 4-0 Big Ten) came back from a four-point halftime deficit to beat Purdue (3-4, 1-3).
Armstrong was 17 for 31 for 252 yards and ran for 51 yards.
Penn St. 24, Ohio St. 21:
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Grant Haley returned a blocked field goal 60 yards for a touchdown with 4:27 left in the fourth quarter and Penn State upset No. 2 Ohio State 24-21 for the Nittany Lions’ biggest win in the post-Joe Paterno era.
Penn State (5-2, 3-1 Big Ten) took the lead with a blocked 45-yard field goal attempt. The white out crowd of 107,280 at Beaver Stadium went nuts and Penn State’s defense closed out the Nittany Lions’ first victory against Ohio State since 2011.
Minnesota 34, Rutgers 32:
MINNEAPOLIS — Emmitt Carpenter’s 28-yard field goal with 10 seconds left helped Minnesota survive Rutgers.
Rodney Smith had a 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and ran for 111 yards and a touchdown for the Golden Gophers (5-2, 2-2 Big Ten). Mitch Leidner returned and was 11-of-18 passing for 156 yards and an interception.
Maryland 28, Michigan St. 17:
COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Perry Hills threw a pair of touchdown passes in his return and Maryland kept Michigan State (2-5, 0-4) winless in the Big Ten.
Maryland (5-2, 2-2 Big Ten) also extended the Spartans’ losing streak to five games, the longest skid under 10-year coach Mark Dantonio.
S. Dakota 27, Illinois St. 24:
VERMILLION, S.D. — Backup quarterback Austin Simmons threw for 2 touchdowns as South Dakota (4-3, 3-1 MVC) edged Illinois State (3-5, 1-4).
Indiana St. 22, SIU 14:
CARBONDALE — Isaac Harker threw for 336 yards and 3 touchdowns and Indiana State (4-4, 2-3 MVC) held off Southern Illinois (2-5, 0-4).
Murray St. 40, EIU 38:
CHARLESTON — Connor Mitchell kicked 6 field goals as Murray State (2-5, 2-2 OVC) rallied to upend Eastern Illinois (6-3, 3-2).
N. Dakota 21, WIU 13:
MACOMB — Easton Stick threw for 160 yards and a score as North Dakota (6-1, 3-1 MVC) beat Western Illinois (5-2, 2-2).
