Wolves stomp Admirals, 5-1:

The Chicago Wolves clinched the Amtrak Rivalry trophy with a 5-1 victory over the Milwaukee Admirals on Sunday afternoon at Allstate Arena. All-Star forward Kenny Agostino, the AHL’s leading scorer, produced 1 goal and 2 assists to lead the Wolves (24-15-3-2). Wade Megan delivered his team-high 20th goal while Ivan Barbashev, Magnus Paajarvi and Samuel Blais also scored. Jordan Binnington (8-6-3) posted 26 saves in his first game since Dec. 21 to pick up the win.

Soccer player fractures skull:

LONDON — Hull record-signing Ryan Mason underwent surgery after fracturing his skull during a clash of heads during a Premier League match at Chelsea on Sunday. The 25-year-old midfielder “is in a stable condition and is expected to remain in hospital for the next few days,” Hull said in a statement. Mason was taken to the neurosurgery unit at a hospital close to Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge after the collision with Chelsea defender Gary Cahill as they went to head the ball. Mason received treatment for almost 10 minutes on the field before departing on a stretcher, while receiving oxygen.

Walter Payton finalists named:

NEW YORK — Larry Fitzgerald, Eli Manning and Greg Olsen have been chosen as finalists for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award that recognizes an athlete’s contribution to the sport and to society. The winner among the Arizona Cardinals wide receiver, New York Giants quarterback and Carolina Panthers tight end will be announced on Feb. 4, the night before the Super Bowl, at NFL Honors in Houston. A total of $1 million will be donated in the name of the Man of the Year, with $500,000 going to a charity of his choice and $500,000 supporting the expansion of Character Playbook across all NFL markets.

Reaves out at Oregon after DUI:

EUGENE, Ore. — The University of Oregon says the football co-offensive coordinator will be fired after his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence. The school said in a statement Sunday that David Reaves has been placed on administrative leave and the process to terminate his employment has started. Oregon announced hiring him Tuesday.

Lakers suffer worst team loss:

DALLAS — Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks had something to prove on Sunday following two straight tough losses. Coming off a three-point effort in an overtime loss on Friday, Nowitzki scored all 13 of his points in the first half and Dallas gave the Los Angeles Lakers the worst loss in their history, 122-73. The 49-point defeat just edged Los Angeles’ two previous worst losses at 48 points, most recently 123-75 at Utah on March 28, 2016.

Mayor ejected from game:

GREELEY, Colo. — Greeley Mayor Tom Norton is there for his hometown University of Northern Colorado men’s basketball team. Unless he gets ejected after protesting a referees’ call. The Greeley Tribune reports Norton was ejected from Saturday’s game against Weber State University when officials said he got up from his courtside seat and walked onto the floor to object. Norton denied being on the court, saying, “I’m behaving.” He was later readmitted and watched the rest of the game from another seat several rows up.

Columbus tops Ottawa in OT:

OTTAWA, Ontario — Cam Atkinson’s second goal of the game at 1:09 of overtime lifted the Columbus Blue Jackets a 7-6 win over the Ottawa Senators on Sunday night. Atkinson had a breakaway after a shot by Senators captain Erik Karlsson missed the Columbus net and went around the boards out to Atkinson, who was at center-ice. The Blue Jackets trailed 5-3 after two periods before Lukas Sedlak and Matt Calvert scored 31 seconds apart to tie it less than 2 ½ minutes into the third. Atklnson then gave Columbus a 6-5 lead with 9:10 remaining, before Kyle Turries tied it for Ottawa on the power play less than 2 minutes later.
