“But true leaders don’t just expect loyalty. They inspire it.” The only inspiration Trump has displayed on any topic is an implied threat to those who dare to decline to step on his bandwagon. He has trampled on the Constitution, trying to control and shut down the press. Instead of “inspring” loyalty and trust, he attempts to bully those who question his tactics and don’t blindly follow. - Holly Kee
“If Comey’s account is true...” That’s a pretty big “IF” This is a case of he-said he-said. Given Comey’s position if he honestly thought Trump tried to influence his investigation, Comey is required to report it. Having not reported it, at the time he did not think it serious. We also now know that Comey leaked classified information (yes his own notes written when FBI director) are government property, not his. That leak is a crime. So far I see nothing that Trump did which is criminal. - Jan Shaw
No one in the FBI nor the Department of Justice has corroborated Mr. Trump’s statement that the bureau was a mess and that the director had lost the trust of his agents as “lies, plain and simple.” In fact, agents and officials have said quite the opposite. Are all these people grandly organized into a giant conspiracy against one person or has Mr. Trump’s dishonesty and lack of integrity caught up with him? It would seem the latter. - Matt McClure
“That is not vindication!” The exclamation point more often is found in letters to the editor, often accompanied by frenetic CAPITALIZATION, or in partisan screeds than in editorials which are usually the province of thoughtful consideration and measured conclusion. Then again, maybe the ham-handed style of Trumpian tweets has infected all political discourse with the same tendency toward hyperbole. SAD! - Bob Foys
