Tech tinkerers, enthusiasts, and novices of all ages are invited to explore, create and play with robots, circuits, virtual reality and more at the Tech Faire at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library on Saturday, March 4.

Drop in between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for live demonstrations and hands-on activities with technology available at the library, as well as sessions and workshops about new and upcoming tech.

The day of the Tech Faire, visit the check-in booth on the first floor of the library by the Info Desk for a map and more information about the activities, sessions and featured tech.

Virtual Reality: Meet an alien, interact with a dinosaur and explore virtual worlds with Oculus Rift and Google Cardboard. For the intrepid adventurer, reach out and interact with the virtual world with the new Oculus Touch.

Robot Invasion: Build, play and compete with robots of all shapes and sizes, including Lego Mindstorms, Finches, Dash and Dots, Ozobots and a Sphero.

Workshops: No library card required for workshops

• Cord Cutting 101: 10-10:45 a.m.: Exploring cable alternatives. Save hundreds of dollars annually by cutting your cable and phone cord. This program will explore cost-effective alternatives to cable (Netflix, Roku, Sling, Roku, Apple TV, Hoopla) and traditional landline phones (mobile, Google Voice).

• What You Need to Build Your Own PC: 11-11:45 a.m.: Whether you’re a gamer looking to customize your PC, an enthusiast wanting to learn more about the workings of your computer, or you simply want to understand the difference between a processor and a motherboard, this class is for you. Learn about the basic components of a PC, including where to buy them and what new options you have when custom-building your own PC.

• Social Media 101: Noon-1 p.m.: Teen Panel. Do you know the difference between Instagram and What’s App? Or Tumblr and Snapchat? The world of social media can be overwhelming. Bring your questions and our teen experts will be on hand, ready to answer the how, what and why of social media.

Take-it-apart at the Tech Bar: Take a look behind the touch screen at what’s inside a phone, computer or small appliance at the Tech Bar. Available tech to take apart will include a computer, flash drives, small appliances and more.

3-D Printing: Play with computer-aided design software, examine 3-D printed goods, watch our 3-D printer in action, and learn how you can design and print your own creations at the library.

STEM Kit Spectacular: Code with a caterpillar, look through a microscope or play a ukulele. Explore the world of science, technology, engineering and math with our collection of toys, tools and technology that inspire creativity and learning.

Green Screen: Learn the basics of green screen technology, how special effects are created, and why the screen is green. Take home a souvenir photo that you create.

Get Creative in the Studio: Unleash your creative genius in our studio, where you can record, mix and master an audio clip, view film being digitized, experiment with photo editing and more.

Electricity and Circuits: Explore the electrifying world of circuitry with Snap Circuits, littleBits and Arduinos.

Cracking the Code: Learn how to write code and create websites in our Training Center with tools like Treehouse, Wix and WordPress.
