K. Hovnanian Homes has opened a decorated model at Sauganash Glen, the builder’s newest community in Chicago.
Sauganash Glen is an enclave of 35 single-family homes on 4½ acres at 4300 W. Peterson Ave. The property, formerly occupied by Skil-Bosch Power Tools and Walgreens, had been vacant since 2006 when initial plans for a residential development fell through.
“We are delighted to see this community come to fruition in Sauganash,” said Margaret Laurino, alderman from Chicago’s 39th Ward. “It’s been a decade since we’ve had a development of this magnitude, and we are thrilled with the beautiful homes that are sure to enhance the neighborhood.”
The public seems to agree. More than 100 people attended the Sauganash Glen grand opening and the model debuted to rave reviews. It is one of six new home designs that are available, each with 3,852 to 4,342 square feet of living space, five bedrooms and 3½ baths.
In every Sauganash Glen home, the expansive finished basement with 9-foot ceilings provides the perfect place for casual everyday living thanks to a family room plus separate entertainment area. A guest bedroom is also downstairs.
On the first floor is the gourmet kitchen, featuring Wolf stainless steel appliances and a Subzero refrigerator, granite countertops, a ceramic tile backsplash, and 42-inch upper wall cabinets with decorative crown molding. A dining room, study and great room are also on this floor, which is accented by towering 10-foot ceilings and hardwood flooring.
A custom hardwood staircase leads to the second floor, where the luxury owner’s suite boasts a private bath and cozy sitting room. Also upstairs are three additional bedrooms and a full bath with ceramic tile, a double-bowl vanity and granite countertop. The second-floor laundry room is an added convenience.
Sauganash Glen homes include smart technology with keyless entry and a Nest learning thermostat.
Exteriors reflect the architecture and character of the surrounding neighborhood. In addition, a three-car garage comes with the majority of homesites as space allows.
The decorated model on display, the Longfellow, showcases the high level of finishes and illustrates K. Hovnanian’s construction. Base prices now start at $819,995. Several homes are under construction, as well, allowing buyers to move in this summer.
Andy Konovodoff, president of K. Hovnanian Developments of Illinois Inc., said homeowners at Sauganash Glen will enjoy the best of city living with suburban conveniences. The community is minutes from I-94 and close to downtown Chicago, making it ideal for professionals working in the Loop or North suburbs. Sauganash Elementary School, which educates children from kindergarten through eighth grade, is just blocks away. Plus, Sauganash Park and Trail are adjacent to the property. The one-mile trail runs from Bryn Mawr Avenue to Devon Avenue and offers walking and bicycling opportunities for residents.
The Sauganash Glen model and sales center is located at 6068 Sauganash Ave. at the corner of Peterson Avenue and Sauganash Avenue in Chicago.
The professionally decorated model is open to tour from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
