Hawks to host fan fest:
The Chicago Blackhawks, in conjunction with the National Hockey League, will host NHL Draft Fan Fest outside the United Center on Friday, June 23, and Saturday, June 24, as a part of the NHL Draft festivities. Interactive games, photo opportunities with Blackhawks players and alumni, music and a special appearance by the NHL Centennial Fan Arena are all part of the NHL Draft Fan Fest.
Osweiler says he’ll start:
BEREA, Ohio — Brock Osweiler remains convinced he is a starting quarterback in the NFL. “Absolutely,” Osweiler said Wednesday in his first interview since being traded March 10 from the Houston Texans to the Cleveland Browns. To those who doubt, Osweiler was direct: “I think the proof is in the film for the past two years.”
Sale falls short of record:

Sale (5-2) struck out six, falling short in his attempt to become the first pitcher in baseball’s modern era to strike out at least 10 batters in nine straight games in one season. But he didn’t seem to mind. “It was fun,” said the left-hander, who received more runs of support in the seventh inning alone than while he was in any other game this season. “You get run after run, hit after hit. When we score like that, it’s fun.”
NU upsets Michigan:
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Northwestern rallied with 3 runs in the ninth inning to upset second-seeded Michigan 6-4 in the Big Ten tournament Wednesday. The seventh-seeded Wildcats were 0-23 when trailing after eight innings. But they loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the ninth, and Ben Dickey’s RBI single tied it at 4. Grant Peikert gave Northwestern the lead on a fielder’s choice and Alex Erro’s single made it 6-4. Pete Hoffman closed it out with his fourth save, giving Northwestern its sixth straight win.
Red Stars sign Nagasato:
The Chicago Red Stars have signed Japanese international midfielder Yuki Nagasato, pending receipt of her International Transfer Certificate. Appearing 132 times with the Japan Women’s National Football Team, Nagasato, 29, has scored 58 goals in international play, the most of the current player pool. Nagasato is expected to arrive in Chicago on May 31.
Duplantier paces Cougars:
BURLINGTON, Iowa. — Snapping a three-game losing streak, the Kane County Cougars (25-19) are back on the winning track with a 3-0 victory against the host Burlington Bees (16-26) Wednesday night at Community Field. The Cougars were backed by another tremendous outing from Jon Duplantier (5-0). The Diamondbacks’ third round selection from 2016 logged another quality outing on 6 innings, 3 hits, no runs, on 2 strikeouts with no walks.
Boomers edge River Rats:
The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, held off the River City Rascals on Wednesday morning, notching a 4-3 win in the opener of a six-game homestand.
Cougars to honor Sager:
The Kane County Cougars will hold a Craig Sager Tribute Night on June 29 to honor the life and legacy of the late TNT sideline reporter on what would have been his 66th birthday. First pitch against the Clinton LumberKings is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
