“In February 2016, my 91-year-old mother, Yoshiko, visited her family hometown of Komono, Japan. She said it was her last trip to Japan. When we were on the Shinkansen (Bullet Train) traveling to Narita Airport, Mount Fuji, which is usually shrouded in clouds, was beautiful. Mount Fuji bid a beautiful ‘farewell’ to my Japanese mother,” says Joyce Turnbull of Gurnee.
