Criticisms of township trustee were unfair
I was disappointed at your recent editorial vilifying Mrs. Koshaba, who is a trustee at Elk Grove Township. She is known to us for many years and you will never meet a more honest and trustworthy person.
She is mother of six, grandmother of eight and has been a wonderful wife to our dear friend. She served in Rotary and Kiwanis and taught religious education at Queen of the Rosary and St. Julian’s. She serves on committees and has always been selfless and helpful to all she knows.
In addition to this, she built her own business and is well regarded in the business community. She has always been a conservative voice in the township regarding funds and we regard her highly.

Stocking up on soda - and drinking more
Since Cook County enacted this ridiculous tax I have been shopping in Dupage County to avoid the tax. While shopping at the Sam’s Club in Addison, I got to talking with a group of people in the soda aisle. All were buying three and four cases of soda. Further conversation determined that since it was a longer drive everyone bought more.
Also since there was more available at home people were drinking more. Mr. Bloomberg can continue to underwrite the cost of the TV ads telling us what a great deal this tax is, but I believe he is only fooling himself.

Pension donations end
It is my pleasure to inform you that as of midnight Aug. 31, 2017, pension contributions for the current elected officials at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County have ceased.
The board took no action to file a resolution with the IMRF affirming that a certain number of hours are required to do the job. In letting the deadline pass without taking action, the taxpayers of DuPage County and the mission of the forest preserve district have benefited in that those monies can now be used fulfilling the mission of the district.
I am certain that all seven commissioners will continue to work diligently as the district embarks on an exciting master plan process. Thank you to those who pay attention and take the time to express an opinion.
