Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn has perfected her own fitness and food regimens during years of training, and now she’s sharing them in her book, “Strong Is the New Beautiful.”
Vonn, 31, who won downhill gold in the 2010 Olympics and also famously dated Tiger Woods from 2013 to 2015, is set to sign copies of the title at 7 p.m. Oct. 7 during an appearance at Anderson’s Bookshop , 123 W. Jefferson St., in Naperville.
Vonn’s message in “Strong” encourages women to stop thinking about “losing weight fast” and instead focus on loving their bodies and making them stronger — inside and out.
The book contains new fitness training routines along with Vonn’s advice about what to eat and how to build self-confidence for a better body image. Woven in are stories of her days growing up in small-town Minnesota, her progression in skiing and the ways she’s responded to injuries, illnesses and depression.
After winning gold in downhill skiing and bronze in the super giant slalom in the Vancouver Olympics, Vonn was injured during the 2014 Games in Sochi, Russia, and did not compete. Instead, she worked as an NBC news correspondent. Now, she’s training for the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, for which she has been named an International Games Ambassador.
During Vonn’s visit to Naperville, the bookshop says she will sign copies of “Strong” and one piece of memorabilia for each book purchased. Tickets that include a copy of the book are $31 with a $2.08 service fee at l indseyvonnandersons.brownpapertickets.com.
