West Aurora graduate Lauren Carlini completed the four-peat.
Carlini, a senior setter on the University of Wisconsin women’s volleyball team, recently was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association all-American first team.
It was Carlini’s third first-team AVCA honor in a row and fourth overall. She made the second team as a freshman.
The 6-foot-2 Carlini also earned Big Ten Conference player of the year honors in 2014 and was named the Big Ten freshman of the year in 2013.
This season, Carlini, who helped the Badgers advance to within one victory of appearing in the NCAA national semifinals (which start Friday in Columbus, Ohio), started all 33 matches and ranked first in the conference at 11.81 assists per set.
A four-time all-Big Ten selection, Carlini, was part of four Wisconsin teams that won 113 of 137 matches, won a Big Ten title, earned a No. 1 national ranking for the first time and advanced to at least the round of 16 of the NCAA tournament all four years.
“Lauren’s the best,” Wisconsin coach Kelly Sheffield told UWBadgers.com Insider Andy Baggot. “She’s the best Badger we’ve ever had. I hope I’m not offending anybody by that. People see the intensity. What they don’t know is that she’s 10 times the better person than she is a volleyball player.”
