Beer drinkers are encouraged to dress in patriotic colors when they attend the Wheaton Park District’s “Red, White and Brew” festival this weekend.

The fest, which is returning to the once-dry town for a sixth year, will feature more than 80 beers from across the U.S.

Ales, lagers and ciders will be flowing from the taps of nearly 30 breweries’ kegs from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park at Wheaton and Karlskoga avenues.

Local brewers such as Revolution, Emmett’s, 51st Ward and Alarmist will be serving up samples alongside big name breweries like Samuel Adams and Blue Moon.

Tickets are $45 and include a commemorative glass and 32 two-ounce tastes of beer. VIP tickets also are available for $75 each, which gives attendees an extra hour at the festival, food, access to a VIP area, a hat and four tastings of limited edition beers.

“What makes our festival unique is the setting,” Brian Whitkanack, an Arrowhead Golf Club employee who helped select the beers featured in the festival, said in a statement. “Memorial Park is the ideal location for this event.”

This year’s fest will benefit the DuPage County Historical Museum Foundation and CASA DuPage, a group that helps neglected or abused children in the court system.
