Learning while playing ‘Germ Tag’
“Doctor” Kennedy Cohn examines patient Angel Allsop to determine whether she is well enough to return to play during Spaulding School’s recent “Germ Tag” game. Students at the Gurnee school learned about germs, proper hand washing, going to the doctor and staying home when sick. (Courtesy of Spaulding School)
Students on scooters represent “germs” and try to tag other students. The first time they are tagged, students must go to a hand washing station, where they must properly wash their hands before returning to the game. When tagged a second time, students are taken by “paramedics” (students with large scooters) to the “hospital,” which are a stack of mats. The third time they are tagged, students go to “Home Sweet Home.” (Courtesy of Spaulding School)
Students, below, Lillia Christor, Musiah Tate, and Dalila Rosmann enjoy some “chicken soup” while playing “Germ Tag.” Students at the Gurnee school learned about germs, proper hand washing, going to the doctor and staying home when sick by playing the game during their physical education classes.
