Neighbor, highway boss remove tree danger
It’s wonderful when those in your community “have your back,” namely Milton Township Highway Commissioner Gary Muehlfelt and my neighbor, Andrea E. Leppert. Andrea had texted me telling me that she was quite concerned that the tree in my front yard might fall on my house because of a serious crack.
I checked and could not see the crack. The next day, at my work lunch break, my phone was filled with multiple texts and voicemail messages from various people. Messages indicated there was some kind of emergency. My daughter advised me that decisions had already been made.
On the way home I found that the five-foot-diameter base tree was in the process of coming down. I am glad to live in a community where people care about my family, our home and our well-being. The crack that Andrea saw was in the trunk of this huge tree!
Andrea cared enough to make the call to Milton Township on my behalf. Gary Muehlfelt then took the time to come out himself and survey the situation. After speaking with my 23-year-old daughter, he made the decision that was the situation was so dire that with the impending storm this tree could easily come down that night onto my home. By the time I arrived home that day, important decisions had been made on behalf of my household, the tree was coming down and my household was no longer in danger.
I am glad that I live in Milton Township, where we have Commissioner Muehlfelt, and Andrea Leppert is my neighbor.

Should we ban trucks?
Mr. Loftus thinks government blacklisting is just fine. That is what the “terrorists watch list “ and the “no fly list” are. You can be denied your constitutional rights because some un-named, un-elected government official has put you on a list without charging you with a crime, convicting you of a crime, or going through due process. Thank goodness the GOP and the NRA oppose this.
Speaking of terrorists, after that guy in France used a truck to run over and kill at least 80 people is anyone saying we should ban trucks?
