Not since rats fled the Titanic
After a year of racist, sexist and misogamist pronouncements from Donald Trump, Republican leaders have begun to withdraw their support from their party’s presidential nominee.
Such a display of integrity has not been seen since rats finally decided to flee the Titanic.

Supporting Trump or not, Mr. Roskam?
Congressman Peter Roskam, are you supporting Donald Trump?
Just because you are not telling us does not mean that we, your constituents, do not need to know.
We want to know.

Before judging Trump, see mirror
There has been a great deal of banter on the Internet regarding Mr. Trump’s comments to an acquaintance 10 years ago. I do understand the feelings some people have on the subject but to treat it more than what most men say in private to other guys is nonsense.
Anyone who has ever been in the military is well aware of the bravado that goes on between soldiers. It was quite common to list for your buddies the women you had scored with. On the other hand, guys who were honest also listed their failings.
During my day there was more than one woman who James Bond bought a cocktail for.
Heck, even today you can walk into any locker-room and someone will be talking about some woman’s attributes (i.e. and unless my female friends are putting me on the talk in the women’s locker room is much the same).
As for Mr. Trump’s ability to lead, Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy and Clinton were known womanizers; yet they certainly did a pretty good job, in my opinion.
Before people condemn Donald Trump for being a man, I suggest everyone take a look in the mirror one more time.

U.S. needs more focus on peace
A friend of mine, a turban-wearing man with long beard was beaten up in Hanover Park a few days ago. A few weeks back, an IT tech in California was beaten up who also had turban and beard. About two years ago a Sikh in Darien was beaten up and earlier, six Sikhs were gunned down in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.
How long will the Sikhs have to be beaten up/killed for mistaken identity as Muslims?
Unfortunately schools in the United States do not teach kids in history that more than 83,000 Sikhs with turbans died fighting alongside American and Allied forces in two world wars. Over 103,000 turban-wearing Sikhs were wounded in world wars fighting along with American and Allied forces. I have met some American veterans who know how Sikhs fought for the victory of Allied forces in the world wars. The BBC has nice documentaries showing the Sikh’s contributions.
I am a turban-wearing U.S. citizen. In the U.S., the news media may not pay much attention to these happenings, but overseas, people laugh at the ignorance of Americans. We have kids being shot in parks, schools, colleges, universities, libraries, theatres and shopping malls. Yet, our major concern seems to be Hillary’ emails.
Let us focus on issues America faces today before it is too late. We need peace here and abroad.
