An Aurora man is in DuPage County jail charged with aggravated driving under the influence in an October 2015 crash that killed a 71-year-old Naperville man.
Ubaldo Torres, 19, of the 2200 block of Mayflower Drive, has been held on $150,000 bail since he was arrested Tuesday night at his Aurora home. A DuPage judge signed the arrest warrant for Torres on July 20, following an investigation by the Illinois State Police.
Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 15, 2015, on westbound I-88 at milepost 133 near Downers Grove.
Authorities said Torres was driving a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban that crashed into a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by Robert F. Froom of Naperville.
Both Torres and Froom were taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where Froom later died from his injuries.
According to court documents, Torres allegedly had an unspecified amount of cannabis in his urine.
Prosecutors said Thursday that Torres faces between three and 14 years in prison if convicted. Torres is scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 29.
