• Vandals scratched the door at Prarieview Elementary School on the 280 block of Mayflower Lane on June 1.
• Thieves stole a hoverboard around 2 p.m. June 4 out of a backyard on the 1000 block of Dartmouth Drive. Value was estimated at $398.
• Vandals slashed three tires around 8 p.m. June 4 on the 100 block of Lucille Court. Damage was estimated at $300.
• A woman was approached by a man and woman around 11:57 a.m. June 6 in a store lot on the 1000 block of South Route 59. The report said the couple offered to fix a dent on her car. She believed it was a ruse and did not exit her car. She drove home and didn’t observe any dents. An Elgin police sergeant recalled a similar ruse used for car hijacking.
Elk Grove Village
• Burglars stole two welders and an oxygen tank around 10:25 a.m. June 2 out of an open garage at Sign Palace, 68 N. Lively Boulevard. Value was estimated at $7,000.
• Brenda Garcia-Guzman, 23, of the 900 block of Wildwood, Prospect Heights, was arrested around 10:05 a.m. June 5 at 14 E. Camp McDonald Road and charged with two counts of forgery. A court date is June 29.
• Christopher K. Heina, 43, of the 6300 block of North Leroy Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 4:34 p.m. June 2 on the 800 block of Touhy Avenue and charged with disorderly conduct. A court date is July 18.
• Vandals scratched the fenders, broke both side mirrors and punctured a tire on a 1999 Mitsubishi, and dented the right rear quarter panel and punctured the spare tire on a 2006 Hyundai Sonata between 4 and 5:30 a.m. June 1 in a driveway on the 1500 block of Shepard Circle. Damage was estimated at $1,000.
• Thieves stole two cellphones between 1:45 and 4:05 p.m. May 23 out of a business washroom, 1000 Busse Road. Value was estimated at $1,000.
• Paris D. Smart, 42, of the 200 block of Washington Square, Elk Grove Village, was arrested around 7:30 p.m. May 28 at his home and charged with aggravated unlawful restraint and unlawful use of a weapon. A court date is June 16.
Hanover Park
• Burglars stole four video game systems around 3 p.m. June 6 out of a home on the 1400 block of Walnut.
• Vandals shot BB-gun pellets overnight June 5-6 that damaged an overhead door on the 1800 block of Army Trail Road.
• Vandals apparently jumped on and shattered a vehicle windshield around 3:37 a.m. June 10 on the 6000 block of Church Street.
• Burglars stole two bicycles around 8:55 p.m. June 7 out of an open garage on the 1400 block of Nautilus. One bike was recovered.
Palatine
• Burglars stole $70 between 6 p.m. May 29 and 11:30 a.m. May 30 out of a 2002 Nissan sedan on the 700 block of East Pennsylvania Drive.
• Burglars stole $60 between 6 p.m. May 29 and 11:30 a.m. May 30 out of a 2002 Nissan sedan on the 700 block of East Pennsylvania Drive.
Schaumburg
• Marquita Lashey Davis, 22, of the 1900 block of South Spaulding, Chicago, was arrested around 12:55 p.m. May 27 at Lord & Taylor in Woodfield Mall and charged with retail theft. The report said a security agent saw her take women’s and children’s clothing valued at $440. A court date is June 16.
• Jaime Moreno, 32, of the 3700 block of West School Street, Chicago, was arrested around 3:10 p.m. May 14 in a parking lot at Woodfield Mall and charged with battery. The report said he punched another motorist in the face during a traffic confrontation. A court date is June 20.
Streamwood
• Christine D. Berner, 49, of Meadow Lane, Streamwood, was arrested around 3:20 p.m. June 6 at Jewel-Osco, 217 E. Irving Park Road, and charged with retail theft. The report said a security agent saw her take 17 items valued at $146.
