Family of a northern Illinois woman who has been missing for a decade say they’re losing hope she’ll ever be found.
Melanie Greenberg’s husband is Lisa Stebic’s cousin and she has been spokeswoman for Plainfield woman’s family since she went missing in spring 2007. Greenberg tells the Chicago Tribune that she doesn’t think she could have thought a decade ago that “there still would be no resolution.”
Stebic was 37 when she disappeared. Her husband, Craig Stebic, said the mother of two went to work out and never returned. He declined to comment to the newspaper last week. Authorities named him a “person of interest” in her disappearance. However, he hasn’t been charged with any crime and has denied involvement. Police and prosecutors in Will County say the case hasn’t been forgotten.
