Airport open house on noise:

Chicago Executive Airport is hosting an open house Thursday, June 29, to give Wheeling and Prospect Heights residents an update about noise exposure maps. The maps are used to generate the noise contour levels and establish best practices for the airport’s runways, officials said. The Federal Aviation Administration requires airports to update the maps every five years to analyze aircraft noise levels over surrounding communities. Airport staff and consultants from Mead & Hunt, the company updating the maps, will be available to answer questions about aircraft noise and how the maps will affect the community. The open house is 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Hangar 19 at 1604 S. Milwaukee Ave. in Wheeling. Hangar 19 is accessible from Milwaukee Avenue on Tower Road.

New senior center roof:

The roof at the Arlington Heights Senior Center will be replaced soon as part of a multiyear repair/replacement program for municipal buildings. The existing built-up tar pitched construction roof is showing signs of age and deterioration, village officials said. Village trustees this week approved a $252,200 bid for replacement of the 41,400-square-foot roof by Arlington Heights-based Riddiford Roofing. The center at 1801 W. Central Road is owned and operated by the village.
