Trail Tales: 6:30 a.m. to sunset daily at Ryerson Woods, 21950 N. Riverwoods Road, Riverwoods; Greenbelt Forest Preserve, 1110 Green Bay Road, North Chicago; and Nippersink Forest Preserve, 900 West Belvidere Road, Round Lake. Free and open to the public during preserve operating hours. Story book pages are converted into panels that are placed along a nature trail. The Trail Time activity on each panel encourages children to explore, touch, smell, listen and enjoy. This family-friendly trail is an easy access walk of approximately one mile or less. There are two different Trail Tales books installed in Lake County Forest Preserves: visit Ryerson Woods to read along with “Winter is Coming,” or Greenbelt Forest Preserve and Nippersink Forest Preserve to read “Miss Maple Seeds.” There will be a Little Free Library at the end of the hike.
