Anne Sullivan, Betsy Ross and Dwight D. Eisenhower elementary schools in Prospect Heights held their second annual McTeacher’s Night Thursday, Jan. 12, at the Mount Prospect McDonald’s on Rand Road.

A McTeacher’s Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having teachers work at McDonald’s and then giving a percentage of the night’s sales to the school.

On Jan. 12, the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve meals to students and their families to raise money for District 23 schools. Ronald McDonald’s appearance was courtesy of owner/operator David Bear.

Sixteen teachers worked from the schools, including all three principals. Principal Traci Meziere from Sullivan School, Principal Luke Lambatos from Eisenhower School and Principal Craig Curtis from Ross School.

The McTeacher jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies, serving ice cream and even dressing up in a pie costume.

Also at the event was a special performance by the Seussical Kids, as well as an appearance by Gus T. Bull, mascot of the Windy City Bulls basketball team.

Mallory Eichhorn of the Windy City Bulls was at the event sharing details with families on the upcoming education day March 8 at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates. Contact Eichhorn at meichhorn@bulls.com for information.

A special thank you goes to PTO Vice President Stephanie Cohrs, who organized the event. The District PTO plans to use the money raised for their STEAM program, its new after school program, field trips and assemblies.
