
Barrington Youth Dance Ensemble’s board of directors has awarded two Patricia Whitmore Pre-Professional Talent Scholarships to Barrington High School graduating senior Victoria Van Hollen and Stevenson High School rising senior Stephanie Eggers.
Eggers will pursue a six-week, intensive summer program with Ballet West in Salt Lake City, Utah. Van Hollen will pursue summer dance studies locally.
Van Hollen and Eggers both currently study ballet at the Barrington Dance Academy, are full company members of Barrington Youth Dance Ensemble, and have performed soloist roles in BYDE’s productions of “Sleeping Beauty,” “Graduation Ball,” and “The Nutcracker.”
Both dancers will also have featured roles in the upcoming BYDE production of “Coppelia,” which will be performed June 9 and 10 at Barrington High School.
Barrington Youth Dance Ensemble supports three types of annual scholarships: The Patricia Whitmore Pre-Professional Talent Scholarship, the BYDE Financial Need Scholarship and the Rusty Hernandez Scholarship for Boys. Primary funding for BYDE’s annual scholarships is provided by individual and family donors at BYDE’s annual fall gala.
