No injuries in Elgin fire:

No one was injured in a fire in the Willow Lakes Estates retirement community Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. According to a news release from the Elgin Fire Department, when firefighters arrived at the building, a quadruple-wide manufactured home located on the 100 block of Bayview Road, they found flames venting from a large room at the rear of the building’s attached garage. Crews entered through the garage and were able to quickly extinguish the fire and search the home, which they found to be unoccupied. The fire caused around $40,000 worth of damage to the structure and around $15,000 to the contents.

Mayor’s office to file appeal:

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is turning to a federal appeals court in his increasingly desperate attempt to keep filmmaker George Lucas from building his lakefront museum in another city. Emanuel’s office says in a news release Wednesday that it’s filing a petition with a federal appeals court to dismiss a lawsuit filed by the parks advocacy group Friends of the Parks. The announcement comes a day after the wife of the “Star Wars” creator said all the legal fighting over the proposed museum has prompted her and Lucas to start looking for a site in another city. w
