BOSTON — Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is listed as doubtful heading into tonight’s game against the Houston Texans.

Garoppolo was again a limited participant in practice Wednesday as he continues to recover from the right shoulder injury he sustained late the first half of New England’s win over the Dolphins last week.

The third-year quarterback sat out practice Monday, but returned to the field on Tuesday. The Patriots have yet to add another quarterback to the roster, increasing the possibility that rookie Jacoby Brissett will make his first career start against Houston (2-0). In that situation, receiver Julian Edelman would back up Brissett.

Browns WR breaks hand:

CLEVELAND — The Browns can’t even get through a practice uninjured these days. Rookie wide receiver Corey Coleman broke his hand during Wednesday’s workout, the latest major blow to a young, struggling team that has already lost two starting quarterbacks in the first two weeks of the season.

A first-round draft pick, Coleman had a breakout game Sunday, scoring 2 touchdowns in a 25-20 loss against the Baltimore Ravens.

He was finally looking like the big-time playmaker the Browns envisioned he could be when they selected him No. 15 overall.

Sherman talks protests:

RENTON, Wash. — Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman said Wednesday the public isn’t listening to the message NFL players are trying to send with their actions during the national anthem.

While some fans are obsessing about whether players take a knee, raise a fist or lock arms during the national anthem before games, Sherman said they should be talking about the reasons why players are protesting.

Support for Vegas stadium:

LAS VEGAS — A plan to build an NFL stadium that could attract the Raiders to Las Vegas hit another milestone on Wednesday, with Gov. Brian Sandoval signaling support for the project and saying he intends to call Nevada lawmakers into a special session early next month to consider a public financing plan.

Luck sits out with shoulder:

INDIANAPOLIS — Three days after taking 16 hits, Andrew Luck missed Wednesday’s practice with a sore throwing shoulder. Luck said it was just sore, downplaying the obvious concern his absence will raise among fans.

He said he hopes to return to practice Thursday and plans to play Sunday as the Colts try to avoid their first 0-3 start in five years, when San Diego comes to town.

“It was a physical game, like any football game, so the coaches and training staff thought it was best if I didn’t go out on the field,” he told reporters, acknowledging he didn’t practice at all Wednesday.

Jackson misses practice:

ASHBURN, Va. — Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson has knee and ankle injuries that could keep him out of Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.

Jackson watched practice in street clothes on Wednesday. In Washington’s Week 2 loss to Dallas, he finished the game despite feeling soreness starting in the third quarter, coach Jay Gruden said.

Gruden says he had “no idea” of the expectations for Jackson’s return, and that “it depends on how he feels” on Thursday and Friday.
