PROVO, Utah — Alex Hornibrook threw for 4 touchdowns and 256 yards as No. 10 Wisconsin eased to a 40-6 victory over BYU on Saturday. The Badgers met little resistance as they put the game away in the first half and led 24-6 at halftime. Hornibrook missed on only 1 pass all day. He completed 10 of 11 passes in the first half for 149 yards and 2 touchdowns. The second half was more of the same as he hit on all 8 attempts. The sophomore put up career highs in passing yards, passing touchdowns and completions.
Iowa 31, North Texas 14:
IOWA CITY, Iowa — Iowa survived non-conference play — but it hardly went unscathed. Nate Stanley threw for 197 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Iowa overwhelmed North Texas. Freshman Ivory Kelly-Martin added 74 yards rushing and 2 TDs for the Hawkeyes, who played most of the second half without running backs Akrum Wadley and James Butler.
Purdue 35, Missouri 3:
COLUMBIA, Mo. — David Blough passed for 1 touchdown and ran for another as Purdue dominated Missouri in a non-conference battle. The Boilermakers head into Big Ten Conference play just one win shy of last year’s total.
Ohio State 38, Army 7:
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Freshman J.K. Dobbins ran for 172 yards and a pair of touchdowns as No. 8 Ohio State rebounded from a deflating loss to rout Army. Dobbins broke away for an electrifying 52-yard touchdown run to open the second half after romping for 22 yards on the previous play, extending Ohio State’s 17-7 halftime lead.
Michigan 29, Air Force 13:
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Donovan Peoples-Jones returned a punt 79 yards for a score and Quinn Nordin tied a school record with 5 field goals, helping No. 7 Michigan overcome its offensive struggles in a win over Air Force. The Wolverines didn’t lead by more than 3 points until Peoples-Jones’ touchdown early in the third quarter.
Penn St. 56, Georgia St. 0:
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Trace McSorley threw a Beaver Stadium-record 85-yard touchdown pass to Saquon Barkley for one of his four scoring strikes and also ran for a touchdown in No. 5 Penn State’s victory over Georgia State. A week after a shaky start against Pittsburgh, McSorley bounced back in a rare prime-time game against a non-Power Five school. He completed 14 of 19 passes for 258 yards in the first half to help Penn State take a 35-0 lead.
Minnesota 34, Middle Tennessee St. 3:
MINNEAPOLIS — Kobe McCrary rushed for 107 yards and 3 touchdowns and Jacob Huff returned an interception 67 yards for a touchdown to lead Minnesota to a victory.
