The Elk Grove High School Chamber Orchestra played Christmas tunes for employees at the Daily Herald office center in Arlington Heights last week, but it wasn’t the group’s only gig this holiday season.
The 21-member student orchestra teamed with the school’s Chamber Singers for a charity concert Wednesday night at Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Elk Grove Village. Proceeds will benefit the church’s Public Action to Deliver Shelter, or PADS, program to help homeless people.
Community members, as well as those who use the resource, were invited to listen to an evening of traditional chamber music and holiday songs, orchestra director Maura Brown said. The groups have performed at the church the past three years, she said.
“We’re able to give back a little bit and benefit their ministry as well,” Brown said.
