The St. Charles Police Department is taking part in the Dunkin’ Donuts Cop on a Rooftop event again this year to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Illinois.
On Friday, May 20, from 6 a.m. to noon, St. Charles police officers will be perched on top the Dunkin’ Donuts stores at 1711 W. Main St. and 1566 E. Main St., St. Charles, and on the ground collecting donations.
Everyone who donates receives a coupon for a free doughnut, compliments of Dunkin’ Donuts.
The St. Charles event is one of more than 190 Dunkin’ Donuts rooftop events happening all over Illinois to raise money for the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch run benefiting Special Olympics.
This is the 14th year Illinois law enforcement officials have joined forces with Dunkin’ Donuts for this special event.
Donate just $10 and you also get a free cup of coffee and a stainless steel travel mug. Or buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win a new Harley Davidson motorcycle, courtesy of the Kane County Chiefs of Police Association.
“The St. Charles Police Department has been a part of this event from the beginning,” says Investigations Commander Jerry Gatlin, who organized St. Charles’ event. “This year we’ve expanded to include two Dunkin’ Donuts stores, one on the east and one on the west. We think it’s important to stay involved in the community and do what we can to help a good cause. When citizens make a donation, they really do make a difference.”
