• On Wednesday, May 18, the Geneva Library Foundation will welcome Nancy Sindelar as she retraces the footsteps of one of history’s most well-traveled men in “Ernest Hemingway: Citizen of the World” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Geneva Public Library, 127 James St. Through her presentation, Sindelar discusses the cities and places most special to Hemingway, many of which he returned to several times throughout his life, and the effect each had on his writing and his life. • Lisa Diersen, founder/director of Equus Film Festival of New York and co-owner of Royal Lusitano of St. Charles, is bringing a Mini Equus Film Festival to Sugar Grove Public Library, 125 S. Municipal Drive. She will speak a bit about film before the showing. There will be a 3-minute cartoon titled “Li’l Herc.” The 90-minute film will be “The Man from Coxs River.” It is free and open to the public. Registration is preferred. • The Fox Valley Chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby will meet Thursday, May 19, at Panera Bread, 154 W. Wilson St., Batavia. Gather at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room. Meeting starts promptly at 7 p.m. Listen to the May 14 national call with James Hansen, climate scientist. Hansen is a member of CCL’s advisory board and is a strong advocate for CCL’s Carbon Fee and Dividend proposal. He is the author of “Storms of My Grandchildren,” and he recently spoke at the Berkshire-Hathaway shareholders meeting in Omaha to urge support for a revenue-neutral fee on carbon.
• The St. Charles Public Library’s Great Decisions series continues with “International Migration” at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19, in the library’s Carnegie Community Room, 1 S. Sixth Ave. The series features a DVD on each topic, followed by a moderated discussion among the participants. Participants are asked to review the relevant chapter of the briefing book, which is available for purchase for $25 at the library’s reference desk or for checkout. Registration is not required. • The Geneva History Museum, 113 S. Third St., offers monthly, private scheduled tours of historic Geneva at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 19. Explore “Geneva on Wheels” in comfort and hear stories of people and places told by a persownal guide. A high-top van will take you from the museum on a 45- to 60-minute tour of historic downtown. Reservations are limited at $25 per person and includes admission to the museum.
