Trustee named chamber chief:
Libertyville Trustee Scott Adams was named Wednesday as executive director of the Green Oaks, Libertyville, Mundelein, Vernon Hills Chamber of Commerce. He replaces Mundelein resident Ray Mullen, who had served since early 2013 but recently retired. Adams has 35 years of experience in marketing, management, sales and business development and has been in the banking industry for many years. Adams also has been involved in several community organizations and elected posts, including MainStreet Libertyville and the Libertyville-Vernon Hills Area District 128 school board. He was appointed to fill a vacancy on the village board two years ago and was elected to a 4-year term in 2015. He said building chamber membership will be a goal.
Good vibe for music club plan:
A proposed club featuring jazz and other live music in downtown Libertyville has received a positive response from village officials. Grayslake businessman Robert Helle says MAK’s Tavern wouldn’t serve food but would focus on entertainment to complement existing restaurants and cater to an after-dinner crowd. The village board’s license and permits committee on Tuesday recommended approval of a new liquor license category for the business. Mayor Terry Weppler said new uses would be good in Libertyville as it is seeing competition from other communities. MAK’s Tavern would be in the Manchester Square building at Lake Street and Milwaukee Avenue and accessed from a pedestrian alley limiting the allowed signage.
King’s Wharf farewell:
King’s Wharf restaurant in the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort will serve its final meals Saturday. King’s Wharf will close after serving the finest cuts of Midwest-sourced meat and seasonal seafood for about 40 years. The restaurant’s closing comes as part of a $25 million renovation, which will touch every aspect of the resort. At 2 p.m. Sunday, the resort will host a public auction of the venue’s nautical decor. A portion of the auction proceeds will benefit Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital.
Verizon store hosts food drive:
Food donations to help those less fortunate are being accepted at a Verizon store in Round Lake Beach. The participating authorized Verizon dealer is at 254 E. Rollins Road, Suite G-5. The canned and boxed food items may be donated until Monday. Through the third annual “Stop Hunger” campaign, participating Verizon stores across the United States will forward the donations to hunger relief organizations.
