Work on ‘2025’ project starts:
Elk Grove Village officials will break ground today on the first project of an aggressive infrastructure overhaul estimated to cost $110 million. The groundbreaking on a $6.6 million renovation of the public works facility at 1635 Biesterfield Road marks the start of the Elk Grove 2025 infrastructure plan. Improvements will include a facade overhaul and interior renovations of the existing building, a new salt barn, more storage space and a small plant nursery. The project is expected to be finished by the end of this year. Other projects included in the eight-year overhaul include a two new fire stations, a public works facility, road and drainage improvements and pedestrian paths. The projects will be funded through issuing bonds and increasing natural gas and telecommunication taxes. A taxpayer who owns a $300,000 home will pay an additional $96.20 per year. The groundbreaking ceremony is 2 p.m. today at 1635 Biesterfield Road in Elk Grove Village.
Employment center opens:
Hanover Township has established an Employment Support Center at the Astor Avenue Community Center, 7431 Astor Ave. in Hanover Park. The center will be open Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk-ins and scheduled appointments will be accepted to provide township residents with free career assistance and counseling. The services are provided by R.P.P. Enterprises LLC, a Hoffman Estates-based career coaching firm that provides similar services for Schaumburg and Elk Grove townships. Nannies, sitters, tutors opens:
Barrington village officials and other leaders gathered this week to celebrate the opening of a new downtown business. The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce and the village officials welcomed College Nannies + Sitters + Tutors at 109 W. Main St. The business also has a Schaumburg location. “We really focus on pairing the children with people who can help them improve at what they want to be in life,” said Linda Gump, owner of College Nannies + Sitters + Tutors.
