Those who attended Smart Farms third annual Farm-to-Table Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 17, enjoyed an evening connecting farm, food and community.

The multicourse dinner included appetizers, drinks, and desserts prepared by Zak Dolezal of Duke’s Alehouse and Kitchen in Crystal Lake, Meghan McGinty of Farmhouse on North, Jamie Wagener of Blissful Kitchen, Jessica Grelle of Mama Jess and Jennifer Kainz of Mindful Waste all of Barrington.

Smart Farm also wishes to thank the Onion Pub and Brewery, Pure Organics, and OMO for their support. Beamish, a traditional Irish/American folk and rock band, provided music.

Proceeds from the evening’s fundraiser will support Smart Farm, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, in its mission to grow fresh produce for neighbors in need and to serve as an educational resource on sustainable gardening practices and healthy eating.

As the 2016 growing season comes to an end, Smart Farm will have raised and donated over 7,500 pounds of fresh produce to area food pantries.

Smart Farm will have its final 2016 work day on Saturday, Nov. 5; volunteers are always needed and appreciated. Smart Farm’s seventh annual Frozen Zucchini Snowshoe Adventure will take place on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017.
