Open house: Immanuel United Church of Christ in Bartlett will hold a “Come Home for Christmas” Open House from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, in conjunction with the Bartlett Chamber of Commerce tree lighting. Radio play: The Community Church of Rolling Meadows will stage the radio play “Christmas Time’s A Comin’” Saturday, Dec. 3. Dinner is at 6 p.m.; the radio play begins at 7:30 p.m. The audience will be taken back to Dec. 24, 1941, to a small country church in Brown County, Indiana. The very unconventional gospel group the Taylor family has been invited to lead the traditional Christmas Eve worship service. The dinner will be a country style Christmas dinner. Willow Creek event: Throughout December, each of the eight Willow Creek Community Church locations are hosting a themed event. Interested participants can sign up to reserve their spot at WillowCreek.org.

Willow Creek South Barrington is at 67 E. Algonquin Road, South Barrington. This family-friendly event includes live reindeer, photo opportunities, hot chocolate, and snacks.

• Chicago Classic Movie Night: Kick back with some Christmas classics Saturday, Dec. 3, at Willow Chicago Ministry Center, 418 S. Wabash, Chicago. Enjoy popcorn and light refreshments. Bring a blanket. Movies and show times include: 4:30 p.m.: “The Grinch That Stole Christmas”; 4:30 p.m.: “Miracle on 31st Street”; 5 p.m.: “Elf”; 5 p.m.: “The Preacher’s Wife.”

• DuPage Hot Chocolate Christmas Party: Kick off the Christmas season with an open house-style holiday party Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Wheaton Academy Fine Arts Center, 900 Prince Crossing Road, West Chicago. Check out the new Ministry Center in downtown Wheaton, complete with a hot chocolate bar and tons of toppings.

• Huntley Family Christmas Movie Night: Gather the whole family to take in a favorite Christmas movie Friday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. at Huntley High School Cafeteria, 13719 Harmony Lane, Huntley. “Elf” will be shown with popcorn and candy.

• South Lake Santa Sundae: Step out for a winter-themed ice cream party, complete with an ice cream bar for making sundaes, Sunday, Dec. 11, following services at 10:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. at Willow Creek South Lake, 625 Barclay Blvd., Lincolnshire.

Worship Service for Deaf and Hard of Hearing: 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, Lutheran Church of the Cross, 2025 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights. Worship service follows Christian lessons and spiritual teachings. A ASL sign language interpreter provides leadership for deaf and hard-of-hearing members and all guests.

Advent Taize Prayer Service: An Advent Taize Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at St. Raymond de Penafort Church in Mt. Prospect.
