The congregation of Living Christ Lutheran Church, 625 E. Dundee Road, Arlington Heights, is pleased to welcome Peter and Tiffany Berauer as its new pastor and pastor’s wife.
Pastor Berauer was installed during a special service at the church July 3 that was attended by clergy from throughout the Northern District of Illinois of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
Being called to shepherd Living Christ Lutheran is somewhat of a homecoming for Berauer, who was born and raised in Mount Prospect, where he attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Berauer, the son of Frank and Eileen Berauer, is a graduate of Prospect High School. He has two brothers, Matthew and Paul.
Berauer received a bachelor’s degree in history from Concordia University, Chicago. After graduating, he briefly served as a youth director at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lemont. It was during that experience that he felt the pull to become a pastor. In 2012, he enrolled at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and graduated in May 2016.
In 2014, Berauer married his wife Tiffany (nee Forte), whom he met in 2003 during his senior year at Prospect High. Tiffany is a doctor of family medicine, currently doing her residency at West Suburban Hospital, Oak Park. While an undergraduate at Valparaiso University, Indiana, Tiffany made mission trips to Nicaragua and Costa Rica, and later to Guatemala, where she worked with the International Health Alliance and helped to provide medical care.
2014 was also the year that Berauer began his one-year vicarage, or internship, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elmhurst. The one-year internship turned into two while he finished his studies for seminary. After graduating from Concordia Seminary and being ordained, Berauer began his call at Living Christ.
“All of us have our own struggles and hurts,” said Pastor Berauer. “And, yet, even though we are different in so many ways, we are brought together by the love of Jesus. I would like everyone to know that I love talking about our Savior Jesus — whether you’ve known him your whole life or whether he is new to you.”
When Berauer is not at church, he enjoys running, biking and drinking good coffee.
All are invited to church services Sundays at 9 a.m. For details, visit www.livingchristlutheran.org.
